The question has been popped, you said yes, and now it’s time to plan the wedding! Before you are able to book any other vendors, you need a venue! There’s no doubt about it- searching for your venue is incredible fun but it can also be overwhelming. The good thing is that we know a little something about Wedding Venue Tours, so we are here to help! With our 10 Wedding Venue Tour Tips, you are sure to be walking down the aisle in your perfect venue soon!
Have an idea of how much you are able to spend on your wedding venue before you go. A great tip for starting your wedding budget is to make a list of vendors in the order of what is most important to you – Venue, Photographer, Caterer? – then allow the most funds to go towards the things you feel are the most important for your wedding day.
Search for local venues and check the websites & social media accounts of the ones that most draw your attention. You’ll be able to read reviews, see photos of real weddings, and get an idea of pricing before you go. Specifically being able to see photos of the decorated venue makes it much easier to envision what the space can look like!
This may sound like an obvious one, but it does bear mentioning: Rather than just driving by or dropping in, schedule an appointment to tour the wedding venues you’re interested in. Sometimes an unremarkable-looking exterior will surprise you with a beautiful, gem of a venue inside. Other times the opposite is true- the exterior is beautiful but the interior is not your style. Set up tour appointments with several different venues so you can find the one that works best for you!
Whether typed in your phone or printed off, come prepared with a list of questions to ask. There are many PDFs you can find that provide an idea of questions you should ask. You can print one out here.
You’ll receive a lot of information during your tours! Bring a pen and small notebook with you so that you can take notes. Like we said, touring venues can be overwhelming but taking notes will help you to remember information about each venue that you may otherwise forget.
You’ve dreamed about your wedding day for a long time. Maybe you want a sparkler exit. An indoor wall of greenery? A neon sign? Confetti? Ask your tour guide about the venue’s rules and regulations around decor and exits.
It’s important to have options for guests who will be traveling in for your big day! Ask your tour guide about hotel accommodations near the venue so that you can call and block off rooms!
It is important to understand that while you love a specific venue, it may not be the best fit for you. Keep an open mind and keep searching until you find the one that best fits your needs.
Once you have reviewed the venues you toured and are on the same page with your fiancé, contact your selected venue to let them know that you have decided to book with them. The venue will provide a contract for you to sign and it is important that you read it thoroughly! You want to be sure that everything is correct and you know exactly what you are signing for.
Once the contract has been reviewed and you are ready to lock in your date, it is time for you and your fiancé to sign! Have your checkbook, credit card or cash ready to provide your downpayment. Once you’ve signed and paid, you can take a deep breath because you’ve just checked a large item off your wedding planning to-do list!
